Building Camp, Building Adventure, and Building Character
Boy Scouts of America is the nation’s largest Scouting organization and their mission is to train youth in self-reliance, and responsible citizenship, and character development through a wide range of educational programs and outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and aquatics.
Problem
The Boy Scouts of America North Florida Council trusted us with the task of producing three videos based on their program theme of “Building Camp, Building Adventure and Building Character”.
One of the videos would have to be a profile on the development of one of their camps, the River Quest excursion on the St. Johns River, and how it builds the spirit of adventure in scouts.
It only took our small crew two days to shoot the videos
Strategy
The aerial footage was captured with a GoPro Camera
Our conversation with Bob Candler, Scoutmaster of Troop 15 and a few of his Scouts, became the centerpiece of this film. They let us in on the story behind the development of the program and how it can impact scouts’ lives.
To bring their words to life, beautiful aerial views of the St. Johns River Base at Echockotee were captured, as well as slow motion b-roll of the many outdoor activities at the camp, inviting viewers to embark on the journey. The testimonials and aerial footage were powerful enough to stand out on their own so we decided to keep it simple on the motion graphics front by only creating lower thirds.
Solution
With only two days of production and a small crew, we were able to create three powerful and highly engaging videos. Each one of them is consistent with the program theme of “Building Camp, Building Adventure, and Building Character.
The video sample above highlights the importance of building adventure through the River Quest excursion on the St. Johns River Base at Echockotee.
We worked under a strict budget & deadline
